Since the launch of our DAWN outreach programs, we have been to about 10 health camps and supported more than 1,360 mothers and their children. Our latest health camp happened on 3rd of May 2025 in Kakunu Village, Busembatia, Iganga District. This event was attended by more than 1000 mothers, most of them with children. This was overwhelming.
In partnership with Mariestopes Uganda and Vital Care Connect, we planned and delivered a serious health package, which included health talks on a number of topics, resources for delivery, including mama kits, pads, and baby clothes. We also packaged usual clothes for adults, the mothers. We included family planning, immunization, and counselling services. And yet all of this seemed like nothing considering the number of mothers who attended, needed support, and we could not afford it.
This was a massive event. It showed us that we are timely, that is, most mothers and their kids need these services. Secondly, it revealed that we are far from meeting all their needs. For this reason, we need your support. We have so many other health camps planned, and we kindly ask that you give in your support in form of money donations, clothes for babies or mothers, mama kits, or any other item or resource that you think could be helpful to a mother or their child.
